2nd Annual Run for Snow on Aug 22, 2010
Hey Madnorskis,
With all the hot weather I've been motivated to get organized and get everything ready for the 2nd annual Run for Snow to be held on the ski trails of Elver Park. (The thought of some snow seems especially delightful as the thermometer edges up towards 90!).
For those who missed out on the fun last year the Run for Snow is a trail run/walk that takes place on the trails we all ski at Elver all winter. The event this year is on Sunday, August 22 and will once again be a 5.5k, 9k, and 14.5k starting at 9am. There will be a free kid's race at 8:30am and also at 8:30am a 5.5k cat ski. Registration is open and you can go to run4snow.com to get all the details and register.
Run for Snow is a fundraiser for the CXC Adopt an Athlete program which is a cool program that supports opportunities for talented athletes to pursue athletic excellence. Once again this year Run for Snow will raise funds to adopt Matt Liebsch, CXC Team Vertical Limit member, 2009 U.S. National Championships Bronze medalist and winner of the 2009 American Birkebeiner 52K Skate race. Many of you have had the opportunity to meet Matt and know what an inspiration he is as not only is he a great guy and an amazing athlete but he is also the father of 2 young children. Talk about doing it all!
For those of you who aren't runners/walkers but would like to support the event I also need volunteers to help with registration, timing and water handups again this year. I also am always looking for sponsorship - cash, prizes, post-race food, etc.
