Women's Dryland Training Group Forming on Jan 09, 2007
At the Madnorski meeting last night I announced the start of a very casual women's ski training group but I wanted to post the info here for those who missed the meeting. Basically a small group of women are getting together to do some training on Wednesday nights. We'll be starting this week on Wednesday, January 10 at 5:30pm at Olin-Turville Park. We, of course, hope to soon be meeting at Elver or a similar location to actually go skiing.
I anticipate that our dryland training will consist of things such as: jogging to warm up, ski bounding up the hill, agility drills such as with a ladder or a cone course, plyometrics and probably a little core/strength training. We'll try to keep it fun and not just bounding up the hill like crazy freaks (not that I'm saying there is anything wrong with that!). This first week we will have a ski bounding/walking clinic to ensure people know how to do it so bring classic ski poles if you have them.
I started a yahoo email list for the group so please sign up if you want to be involved as we will change locations if it snows or if Olin doesn't work out for some reason. To subscribe send an email to madsnowbetty-subscribe@yahoogroups.com.
Please forward this on to other women who you think might want to join us as the more the merrier. This group is very informal and you don't have to be serious about skiing or ski racing to join us (although serious ski racers are welcome as well).
Thanks,
Renee Callaway
