Course Details

Course Map

SkiX is an emerging event on the international stage having been a medal event at past Youth Olympic Winter Games. The Holiday Sprint SkiX will be run as a FS sprint, with a qualifier and then heats of 6. SkiX course will be interval start sprint distance (about 1km) with uphill and downhill obstacles to test not only a skier’s fitness, but also their agility. Expect 1 or 2 small drops similar to the recent world cup finals course in Quebec City, possibly some rollers on a downhill and possibly some snowboard cross gates to negotiate.

Given the newness of the format and anticipating tight racing in heats of 6, the elements will attempt to be on the mellow side of things making the competition a fair test. Courses vary each time, but small jumps, 360 degree turns on the flat, narrow paths with sharp turns, slalom up and down, and hoops are common.

Prizes

Awards will be given to age group winners in the following categories: U10, U12, U14, U16, U18, U20. Open categories for Men and Women. Awards will be presented after the conclusion of each age group.

Coaches Meetings

All meetings will be held at 7pm at Madison Marriott West Hotel, updates coming soon. Bibs will be ready for pick up on Saturday morning  at registration.

Venue

Elver Park Madison, WI. Elver Park is the largest community park in Madison, spanning an impressive 250 acres in the southwest corner of the city. Snowmaking on the cross country ski trails began in 2016, and the park’s 10 km of lighted trails circle through hills, woods and open spaces. Course maps and profiles are linked below.

Training and Inspection

The course will be open for inspection starting at 3pm on Friday, December 21st until dusk; and again at 8 am on Saturday and Sunday, December 22nd and 23rd . In the event there is not natural snow before this time to warm up on other areas of the park, we encourage skiers to warm up by running in the park.
