New Trail Names for Elver Park

Madison Nordic Ski Club and Madison Parks worked together this past fall to create meaningful names for the trails at Elver. Last year we had asked members to submit suggestions for names that honor the flora and fauna or the terrain of the park. Some of our favorite names were “Outer Limits,” “Pine Needle Drop,” and “Capitol View.” We hope that the new trail names will help park users navigate and enjoy the natural surroundings of the trails.

With the size of the park being about 250 acres, we also suggested to Madison Parks to put Emergency Location signage throughout the park. If for instance there is a medical emergency, a person can locate the nearest emergency location site, call 9-1-1 and give the coordinates or numbers posted on the sign. Emergency response will be able to locate where you are in the park. Madison Parks is still in the process of installing the new signage for the trail names and the emergency location signs. Keep an eye out for these park improvements!

Thank you to Madison Parks for their enthusiasm for the trail names and working on the improved signage.
