Trail Condition

Cherokee Marsh

Went out to Cherokee on 1/19 only to find no classic tracks were set and I couldn't tell if the entire trail was rolled or not. A section off the road to get to the boat launch was not rolled, but perhaps further back it was. It would be nice if the groomers leave a …

Token Creek

Skied Token on Friday night. Went to Cherokee and didn't see tracks, so headed back to Token. There's some blown over area and minor places where walking happened, but compared to the past at Token seems like a lot less walking happening. Perhaps the cold weather kept them away. The weekend may see more traffic …

Elver Park

Very firm/icy in most spots – wooded trails a bit better but lots of small debris on trail. Mostly avoidable but a few hard to traverse sections. A few other early birds out there trying to pack it in before the ice/rain!

University Ridge Golf Course

Trails are holding up well. Our groomer will be out between 10:30-1pm today to clean up the skate trails. Open 9-5pm today. Trails will be closed Tuesday-Thursday. We will access trails on Friday/Saturday after this weeks warm-up and weather.

Door Creek Park

Trails were extremely well groomed for classic – only a few shallow spots. Lots of nice long flats and modest slopes – great place to get some striding in.

Elver Park

Firm trails but a fair amount of debris in some locations. But where there was no debris it was gorgeous!

CXC Outdoor Rec Center

Conditions at CXC and all around Pleasant View were outstanding! Tracks were solid, and blown in sections were short. Classic skiing doesn’t get much better than this! I used waxed skis this morning, and had bombproof kick with Swix V20 (Green).

Door Creek Park

Wow what a far east side find. It’s not often I give Madison trails an excellent but the grooming and tracks at Door Creek were unreal. They must have a Pisten Bully or something to produce deep firm tracks like that. I was on waxable classic skis but skate lane was firm and getting little …

CXC Outdoor Rec Center

Great tracks at CXC and almost better at PV golf course. Watch for soft snow in places for deep pole plant – suggest keeping poles close to the skis. Waxing no problem on cold snow though glide a bit slow
