There is a bit more snow today, so the snow makers were productive. Thank you!

CXC Outdoor Rec Center

The hill by the powerlines was good and well covered. The rest of the loop is thin but skiable. I know that there have been a lot of comments about making snow and Yuriy has an explanation but people are looking at alpine areas and Blackhawk next door. Just a couple of things on snowmaking. …

Skied Battle Creek Park in St Paul. A first class man made snow operation. Lots of snow guns going and equipment moving snow around Probably a hundred skiers there but very wide trails so not crowded. Only .6 k reopened after the big melt but ready to open much more by the weekend.

BlackHawk Ski Area

Blackhawk is making snow. Temp was 30 relative humidity 75%. Good coverage. Snow getting added to 01245 and leonards way. A few missed opportunities for snow making but glad to see it is happening. Hopefully cross country becomes loop soon.

Pleasant View Golf Course

Skied Pleasant View last night off the groomed trails that CXC folks made. Snow was surprisingly good, not quite ideal crust yet, but very enjoyable to glide around. If you go, you'll have to do some dodging of where the snow has melted down a bit more. (Please remember to stay away from greens and …

There's a lot of stubble showing in some key parts of the loop. Given recent night and daytime temps in the 20s I'm surprised there's no new snow being made. Hoping for this to change, as a season pass holder.

Blue Mound SP

Fallen tree on Red Loop is removed. IMO the deck is getting to look pretty tempting for skating. It's flatish and firm. Watch for two way traffic because some will turn around at the campground (you can stride or double pole the edges of the campground) DO NOT enter the campground without stopping to consider …

Blue Mound SP

It's true: there's snow here! Ungroomed and hiked upon but fluffy and clean. I used BC skis but it wasn't strictly necessary, if you are careful and have strong ankles. What I suggest is flatten as much loose snow as you can, before it blows away or gets stepped on. Segments are already packed enough …

Odana Golf Course

Have skied O. the past three days. Surprisingly good crust on the 29th and 30th. New Year’s Eve saw a floury/dense, new 1.5 inches that slowed things down significantly. Rock skis of course, but as one of the posters of Blue Mounds stated, nice to be skiing on real snow. Fingers crossed for the new …
