Trails were rolled and groomed but no track set. Firm packed base with skied-in tracks in spots but I mainly just kicked my way around with some older waxable touring skis. Trails were in good condition and the crowds were small in the early afternoon. A little slow going, but the views in the woods were amazing. Get out before we get rain next week.
Not groomed after last night’s dusting as expected. Good edging on a hard deck. But very cold high friction powdery surface snow made for quite a workout. Whew! Tomorrow will likely be similar. I expect Sunday to be much faster with warmer temps.
Skijored on the Moringside trail with the dogs this morning. Some drifting snow and snowmobile tracks but most of the trail was in good shape. No recent grooming. There is a ~40 yard stretch from the dumpsters to the lake that looks like a truck drove over it and is really rough.
Pink trail has been walked on in the track. Isolated areas seem okay.
Sadly, the trails have not been groomed. I called the park office to ask when they might be groomed, and I was told to check back in a week or two. Beautiful snow about a foot deep, but it doesn't seem like there is any motivation to keep XC skiing alive at Gov. Dodge.
Definitely at lot more even surface and faster than, say, Sunday. Groomer was making the rounds again this morning and the fresh corduroy felt a lot slower than what remained of the skied in surface. Good control on either, though. Debris not an issue for skating. Lanes seemed wide enough considering relatively low traffic.
