Seeking a Part-Time Executive Director

Help lead a vibrant, snow-loving community!
Madnorski is seeking a dynamic, organized, and community-minded leader to serve as our Part-Time Executive Director (ED). This role is at the heart of our club—bringing people together through outdoor adventure, youth programming, events, and a shared love of Nordic skiing.

About the Role
The Executive Director provides overall leadership for Madnorski’s programs, operations, and community presence. Working closely with the Board of Directors, the ED ensures the club runs smoothly year-round while inspiring growth, connection, and participation across all ages and abilities.



What You’ll Do

Lead & Inspire

  • Shape and implement the club’s vision and strategic direction
  • Support and supervise coaches, staff, and volunteers
  • Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and energetic club culture
  • Partner with the Board on planning, leadership development, and priorities

Run Club Operations (65%)

  • Coordinate programs, events, and the annual club calendar
  • Manage registrations, communications, and member engagement (TeamSnap, MailChimp, WordPress)
  • Oversee key events like the Ski Swap, Trail Run, youth programs, and race series
  • Keep club systems organized—from equipment inventory to PO box mail
  • Ensure accurate reporting and filings (including annual state report)

Build Community & Visibility (10%)

  • Promote club activities through social media and communications
  • Share stories, photos, and updates that highlight our vibrant community
  • Maintain strong relationships with members, families, partners, and the broader community

Steward Finances (15%)

  • Manage bookkeeping, budgeting, and financial tracking (QuickBooks)
  • Oversee revenue, expenses, deposits, and payments in partnership with the Treasurer
  • Prepare annual budget and ensure responsible financial management
  • Complete required filings (including IRS Form 990)

Grow Support & Partnerships (10%)

  • Lead fundraising efforts including sponsorships, grants, and membership growth
  • Maintain and coordinate partnerships with Madison Parks and Central Cross Country Skiing (CXC)
  • Support program agreements, scheduling, and volunteer coordination
  • Help organize community programs like “Learn-to-Ski” and trail work days

Approximate Work Schedule

  • Seasonal rhythm: August–February averages 30 hours/week  (peak season)
  • Off-season: lighter, flexible hours supporting volunteer-led activities
  • Work hours will not exceed 50% of a full time position over the year
  • Evening and weekend availability required for some programs and events
  • Monthly meetings:
    • Board Meetings: 1st Monday at 7:30 pm
    • Club Meetings: 2nd Monday evenings (Sept–March)
  • Key annual events include Ski Swap (Oct), Trail Run (Nov), and winter programs

  • Financial management & strong computer skills 
  • Excellent communication and community-building skills
  • Passion for outdoor recreation, youth programming, and/or Nordic skiing

Compensation

Base salary minimum is $25,000 annually (50% of a full time position). While this role does not include benefits, it offers a flexible schedule and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a friendly & supportive community of outdoor enthusiasts.
