The XC List
The XC list is for discussion and notices of interest to Nordic skiers in the Dane County, Wisconsin area. List members are encouraged to use this list to discuss topics of interest to cross country skiers. While this list is run by the Madison Nordic Ski Club, you do not need to be a club member to join this list (but we recommend that you join to help support XC skiing in the Madison area).
Join the XC List
You can join the XC list by sending a blank email to: xc+subscribe@madnorski.org Even though we now use Google Groups for this list, no Google account is needed to join the XC List. But if you do have a gmail account, you can navigate in a web browser to: https://groups.google.com/a/madnorski.org/forum/#!forum/xc and click “Join.” Unsubscribing is just as easy as joining. See the link at the bottom of every XC group/list email for an unsubscribe request.
Confirming your email
Reply to the automatic email with the subject “Join request for xc” to complete your registration.
Once you register you should receive an email from the XC List Group requesting you either click on a link or reply to the email to confirm your registration. There may be an issue with clicking on the link to confirm in Google Groups if you are not already signed in. The workaround is to reply to the email instead.
Post to the XC List
Once you join the list you can post questions or comments to the list for the other subscribers to see. Just send email to xc@madnorski.org.
View the Archives
Every message sent to the XC list is archived and can be viewed by using your web browser. Go to the Google Groups Page to view list topics since the summer of 2019.
An Unsubscribe option is at the bottom of every group email.
Advice on Posting to the List
When posting to the XC List be sure to remember that about a third of the members read this list in digest form. This means that they are not able to receive attachments of any kind. In fact, attachments tend to make the entire digest unreadable. To get your message seen by all of the members of the list, please follow these guidelines:
- Limit use of attachments.
- Whenever possible, send plain text only. Sending messages that contain both plain text and html increases the chance that your message will be rejected because of length and makes the digest harder to read.
- Keep your message short and to the point.
- Continue to be nice. This is the nicest list most of us have ever had the pleasure to take part in.
