CXC Outdoor Rec Center

The hill by the powerlines was good and well covered. The rest of the loop is thin but skiable. I know that there have been a lot of comments about making snow and Yuriy has an explanation but people are looking at alpine areas and Blackhawk next door. Just a couple of things on snowmaking. You can make snow at warmer temperatures which is what people see at alpine areas but they are making snow with prechilled water from ponds, lakes, or rivers. They also use additives which allow snow making at higher temperatures. They are also willing to make icier snow (freezing rain) especially for base building. This week when it did get cold the humidity was so high that it would have been hard to make much snow. There are definitely issues with the snowmaking at CXC but it will take more money than what came in from pass sales the last couple of years to fix it. In the mean time enjoy what has been made.
