The deck was hard as a rock with a very thin layer of snow to grip on if you are skating. The classic tracks were deep and firm with reasonable grip. The snow is very aggressive and stripped a lot of my grip wax off by 15k. I recommend B skis. I picked up a couple of deep grooves through my bases.
