Blue Mound SP

Arrived at about 5pm, and my first observation was that I didn't notice any melting. I think temps barely breached freezing today at BMSP. First I tried the trailhead. That was extremely firm and crusty, so I didn't even bother after a minute or two of double poling. Then I tried the campground. I was expecting it to be a bit soft given it's on the southwestern-ish slope of the mound, but it was extremely firm. Even my metal edge fishscale skis weren't cutting it. After about a mile of that I called it quits and headed to the top of the mound to skate. Conditions were quite nice actually, firm and fast with not too much difficulty edging. However, there were far more deep footprints and indentations compared to my ski yesterday morning. Not the easiest to avoid in a few spots.
The base still seems several inches deep, only thin where there have been footprints.
