9:00 AM Functional Integrated Training – Welcome to Isophit!
Isometric training has been around for decades, but we at FIT are bringing a new spin on it. Welcome Isophit! A very efficient, safe and challenging workout that can create the kind of muscle activation every Nordic skier would want to perform at their best all season long. Come check out our workshop, you might even get to try it! 🙂
9:30 AM Out There Nordic Workshop – “Kick Waxing Tricks & Tips with Fluoro Free Waxes” We will look at kick zone prep, application, layering, mixing with klister and other applications. Presented by owner Bjorn Hanson.
10:00 AM Peak Endurance PT – “Movement Snack – a pre ski warm up & strength training routine”
During this presentation we will be discussing the importance of doing a pre activity activation routine to help prepare your body for the work ahead, but also sneak in some valuable strength training throughout your week. We will give you some ideas on useful movements, and discuss proper form/execution of these movements. Finally we will discuss how to determine which movements are most suitable for you, so you can create your own individualized movement snack!
10:30 AM Fontana Sports Specialties – Ski Prep for Beginners
Veteran XC skier and past Madnorski president Mike Ivey will explain the basics of getting skis to work like they should — no matter the conditions. Topics include cleaning the bases, applying hot wax and using liquid top coats. Mike will also demonstrate how to treat the kick zone of skin skis or apply traditional kick wax if that’s your thing. Bring your skis with you and we’ll take a look. Bottom line: less time fussing with skis means more time on snow.
11:00 AM Madison Nordic Ski Club & Madison Parks – “Introduction to Nordic Walking and the Benefits”
Turn your walk into a full-body workout with Nordic walking! This originated as a way to train in the off season for cross country skiing. Now it is a growing health sport — Come try Nordic walking for a great cardio and strength-building workout. Demo poles will be provided. ABR Trails (www.abrski.com) is a full service ski touring center located on over 1100 scenic acres of varied terrain along the Montreal River in Ironwood Michigan. Grooming is the cornerstone for which ABR built their reputation. In April 2025, the Anderson Bluffs and River Trails Foundation will be continuing the legacy of the ABR ski area.
